Accessibility Policy

Uncensored Scotland

At Uncensored Scotland, we are committed to making our events as accessible, welcoming, and inclusive as possible — for everyone.

We recognise that accessibility is not just about physical space, but also about creating events that feel emotionally and mentally safe, especially for those from marginalised communities. We’re a grassroots, community-focused organisation, and while we’re always learning, we are actively working to do better with every event.

♿ Physical Accessibility

We aim to host all of our events in wheelchair-accessible venues, with step-free access, accessible toilets, and lifts where required. We also provide companion tickets at reduced prices so that attendees can bring the support they need.

We do our best to clearly communicate venue access in advance and offer multiple ways for people to get in touch about their needs.

🧠 Mental & Sensory Accessibility

We know that busy, high-energy spaces aren’t for everyone. That’s why we build in breathing space at our events, including:

  • Quiet spaces available all day
  • Quiet Hours during our markets with low lighting, no music, and limited capacity
  • Chill social areas with plenty of seating
  • Neurodivergent-aware scheduling and communication where possible

We understand the importance of reducing overwhelm and supporting neurodivergent, anxious, and mentally ill attendees in feeling welcome and safe.

✊ Safe Spaces for Marginalised Communities

Uncensored exists to uplift and celebrate queer, trans, disabled, neurodivergent, sex worker, and POC communities. Our events are designed to be safer spaces where everyone can exist without fear of judgment or harassment. We do not tolerate bigotry or discriminatory behaviour of any kind.

We aim to hold space where everyone — particularly those who are most often excluded — feels respected, affirmed, and free to express themselves.

🔁 Constant Learning & Community Feedback

We’re not perfect. But we’re committed to listening, learning, and improving. We welcome feedback and suggestions from our community and always try to incorporate it into future events.

Accessibility is a continuous practice, and we see it as something that should evolve with our community’s needs.

If you have access needs or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — your voice matters, and we want to hear from you.
